Golden Group Roofing gets down and dirty at LexFarm!
Located at 52 Lowell Street in Lexington MA, LexFarm is a thriving, sustainable community farm dedicated to fostering learning and strengthening connections among people and with the land. They promote environmental stewardship, and increasing access to fresh, healthy food for all.
Volunteer opportunities
Volunteering at LexFarm provides a unique way to connect with co-workers. The idea of working together in a new environment, and as part of a company give-back program excited the employees of Golden Group Roofing. They were attracted by LexFarm’s mission and they wanted to participate as a way of giving back to one of the communities they serve.
This was an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.
Typical LexFarm activities
There are many ways to help on a farm. Volunteers can transplant seedlings, move tarps, weed, mulch, and harvest.
The folks at LexFarm invited Golden Group Roofing to donate to their cause and to spend a day volunteering at the farm. The Golden Group team helped harvest squash, break down and prepare the landscape, and fertilize the land for the next planting season.
“It was a wonderful experience for our team,” Greta Bajrami, COO & Co-Founder of Golden Group Roofing, explained. “Being together outside with our hands in the dirt, gave us a new perspective about what it means to be part of a community helping those in need get they food they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.”
Golden Group Roofing donated $500 to support LexFarm, a community farm with a small field crew. The extra hands and energy a group of volunteers brings help make quick work of large tasks.
The Golden Group team of eight, including both sales and office staff members, were proud to participate in this program.
A time of community service
Greta added, “More than sponsorship, our day was actually community service. It was a great opportunity for us to connect with our local farm and give back. Our team harvested about a half ton of squash that day. It was a fabulous team-bonding experience, as well. We all agreed to volunteer at LexFarm again and again!
