The RSS Formular: All-in-One Solution for Your Home’s Exterior Renovation

Not all construction companies will tackle a three-in-one formula for your home’s exterior renovation, but Golden Group has perfected the Roofing, Solar, and Siding integrated process.

Integrating roofing, solar, and siding in exterior renovations is nothing new to Golden Group.

Golden Group performs as a general contractor for the combined projects. We plan for and anticipate all the challenges of integrating the three projects and their clients have peace of mind knowing that their home is in experienced, skillful, and efficient hands.

Combining a new roof and solar system

Adding a solar system when a new roof is being installed provides several benefits, not the least of which is the quality of the craftsmanship of both roof and solar panels. Golden Group installs the first course of shingles on the roof and then adds the solar mounts. The second course of shingles goes on top of the solar mounts, rather than drilling through both layers of shingles. There is no damage to the roof shingles and no risk of leakage. Integrating roofing, solar, and siding for your home’s exterior renovations is nothing new to Golden Group.

Matt Weiner, Director of Golden Group’s Solar Division, explained, “The roof rafters are marked for precise positioning of the solar mounts when the roof is bare. Therefore, there is no guessing when the solar mounts are drilled.”

Golden Group’s added roof benefit: your home’s exterior renovation

When Golden Group Roofing installs the ice and water shield on the bare roof, they install it over the entire roof, rather than what other roofers typically do – use felt paper over the roof and an ice and water shield only at the edge of the roof. By doing it their way, Golden Group ensures that the roof under the solar panels is fully protected. This process is more time-consuming, but the extra effort is well worth it in peace of mind for the homeowner.

The RSS Philosophy makes so much sense.

Matt Weiner further explained, “Solar technology today is so advanced that both roof and solar are designed to last around 25 years. It just makes sense to put solar on a new roof.”

If you forgo the installation of a new roof when you install solar, your roof could need replacing within a few years. This implies that the solar system will require removal, reinstallation, or scrapping. Best practices dictate that solar footings should be installed on the roof deck when the shingles are installed. Other companies pry open existing shingles to install solar cells. This destroys the integrity of the roof and is not considered “best practice.”

Exterior siding comes next.

When a new roof is installed, it is an ideal time to check for damage to the exterior siding. Over time siding can become worn, faded, or damaged, which can make your home look outdated or neglected.

New siding can also improve the energy efficiency of your home. Older siding may not provide adequate insulation which can cause drafts and higher energy bills. New siding can help to better insulate your home, keeping it warmer during our New England winters and cooler in the summer.

Various types of siding are designed to insulate your home. Insulated vinyl siding is a low-maintenance option for homes with poor exterior wall insulation. These durable vinyl panels compose the siding, providing an extra layer of protection and are designed to mimic the appearance of traditional wood. Insulated vinyl siding is weather-resistant and is available in a wide array of colors. This translates into significant energy savings!

If your existing roof is not functioning as it should, there is a greater chance that moisture has accumulated behind the siding, causing water leaks, mold, and rot. When replacing a roof, contractors may need to remove certain areas of the siding. This is to accommodate the equipment and tools required for the job, particularly in areas such as dormers.

Before installing new siding, Golden Group will remove any rotting areas on the siding or trim. If you have a waterfront home, it is especially important to select a new siding that is resistant to moisture and rot. Golden Group offers several brands and styles of siding that are easy to maintain and fade- and moisture-resistant. Certain siding also offer protection against damage from insects, and some are flame-retardant.

Another reason to follow the RSS Formula.

Replacing the siding gives your home a fresh, updated look … and elevates its curb appeal. In addition, the color you select for your roof may influence the color of the siding. You can change the color and style when you install new siding.

Your home’s exterior renovation with one company.

Instead of three separate projects, Golden Group’s RSS Formula offers one smooth, integrated undertaking. One such endeavor for a Golden Group client in Hopkinton MA resulted in the dream home our client had hoped for but didn’t think she could afford.

“You made my home look new. It has curb appeal, character, and style, and the project raised the value of my home considerably.”  She added, “I love my home! I’ve seen homes like this on HGTV, but I never thought I’d own one. I’m so happy I chose Golden Group Roofing.”

Tackling all three projects in an integrated exterior renovation with one company saves time and money. It avoids the need for separate crews and contractors. We minimize disruption to your daily life by streamlining the process, strengthening communication, and completing the job more efficiently.
