WSU Awakened Entrepreneurial Spirit in Greta Campoverde

Greta (Bajrami) Campoverde and her husband, Freddy Campoverde, own Golden Group Construction Corp. of Worcester.

1. How did you get to this point in your professional career?

In my first years of college, I was hopeful, ambitious, and determined to graduate and find a job in a management or marketing position. I loved the idea of working in corporate America, being part of a team, and producing results that would create an impact.

As the years went by, these goals developed into something else,something I never knew I was capable of achieving. My junior year at WSU, as I was attending an entrepreneurship class,everything began to change. All of a sudden, I had a change of heart and knew I had to follow this new-found entrepreneurial spirit.

Tiramisu café, a coffee shop, was my first entrepreneurial calling. However, my ideas began to change after talking with a family friend about my coffee shop dream.

As we spoke, he said he loved my passion. He said I had strong communication and leadership skills and it was something the construction industry was in dire need for. He introduced me to the idea of owning my own business in the roofing world. I thought he was crazy—how could I be in roofing? What did I know about roofing?!
